The stress lab at the AnMed Health Heart and Vascular Center provides three
types of tests:
- treadmill
- pharmacological dual isotope
- stress test with echocardiography
These tests show your cardiologist how your heart responds to exertion. The
exercise stress portion of each test is monitored by a cardiologist or an
internal medicine physician. Images acquired from the dual isotope stress test
and the stress echocardiogram are interpreted by a board-certified cardiologist.
Stress tests help your doctor to:
- Determine if there is adequate blood flow to your
heart during increasing levels of activity.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of your heart medications
to control angina and ischemia.
- Determine the likelihood of coronary heart disease
and the need for further evaluation.
- Check the effectiveness of procedures done to improve
blood flow within the heart vessels in people with coronary heart disease.
- Identify abnormal heart rhythms.
- Help you develop a safe exercise program.
AnMed Health performs an average of 307 stress tests per month. Appointments
are scheduled by calling First Call at (864) 512.2255.
